Since the very beginning, online dating sites have prompted a ton of controversy even though a great number of people have formed lasting relationships with partners found when searching for a UK Date online. Recently the BBC ran an article on dating sites which stated that they are actually ?good for romance? and that the chances of developing a long-lasting relationship are quite good. The article was based on a study released this past Valentine?s Day in which the BBC noted that 94% of those surveyed and who went on to meeting someone in person also got together again with those same people.
Jeff Gavin, a University of Bath psychologist, conducted the study where 229 UK adults were surveyed. The general consensus of all involved was that the majority of people could actually benefit from dating sites. Nonetheless, 4% were already married at the time of the survey, according to Dr. Gavin. Still, there are an astonishing six million subscribers to dating sites in the UK and the one concern is that there appears to be a lack of room for a person to describe himself/herself. It is after chatting in online chatrooms that real bonding took place.
Chatrooms were seen by those surveyed as being more effective than email contacts because the communications were more immediate and allowed for greater interaction. During chats, customers could better express real emotions which helped them relate on a more personal level. However, less than 10% of participants said that they used webcams and instead favoured text based communications. Dr. Gavin said that he was ?struck by? the fact that relationships with a traditional flavour seemed to be going strong. When gifts and personal letters were involved, bonds tended to strengthen. Amazingly, about 20% actually formed relationships which lasted more than a year.
These statistics seem to echo the success of those partners who had begun relationships more conventionally and males tended to be more committed than females. It is thought that males were better able to express themselves openly and honestly in chatrooms whereas they were more inhibited when meeting potential partners in person. Also, it appears to be that one of the main reasons why many people frequent online dating sites is because they lack the time to go clubbing or bars to meet other singles. Further, Dr. Gavin noted that in the very beginning, dating sites were more generic but currently they are geared towards niches.
Since there are at least six million people looking for a date, the UK dating sites should provide plenty of opportunity to find potential partners with a bit of searching. With the amazing amount of diversity found in online dating sites, there should be someone for everyone after finding the right niche. Christian singles can meet up with other Christian singles whilst university students and/or graduates can meet up with other academics. Forging a lasting relationship online is more plausible than ever before since so many sites are focused on particular interests and lifestyles. In the end, Gavin found that the success rate is quite similar to finding dates through more conventional methods and certainly a whole lot easier. For more information about online dating, sign up to UK Date today.
